Green Gorilla Review

Green Gorilla is a CBD company but also considers itself a Malibu-lifestyle brand. So, it generally appeals to more active, social, and nature-loving customers looking to upgrade their personal wellness routine. The company offers full-spectrum and isolate oils, gummies, topicals, and CBD for pets, including horses. Overall, the company excels in certain areas but also has some sizable weaknesses. You’ll find out all about them in this Green Gorilla CBD review.

Who is Green Gorilla?

Green Gorilla is a Malibu, CA-based company that entered the CBD industry in 2013. Founders, Steve and Katherine Saxton discovered CBD in the 2000s and were amazed by its impact on their own lives and the lives of their closest friends and clients.

After years of personal success, the Saxton family knew it was time to start a CBD company. They created Green Gorilla with the following mission statement.

The Company

Green Gorilla is based in Malibu, California, and is a self-proclaimed lifestyle brand. It’s a family-owned business that runs an eco-conscious, sustainable hemp farm. The brand has created CBD products since 2013 and continues to expand its team of experts.

Product Sourcing

The company sources its hemp from American west coast farms. These states include California, Colorado, Nevada, and Oregon. Also, Green Gorilla has its own 1,500-acre farm in Arizona, where it grows hemp to make some of its products. Furthermore, the company uses supercritical CO2 to extract the volatile phytonutrients in the plant, which include CBD, along with other beneficial cannabinoids and terpenes.

Brand Product Line

There’s a good selection of full-spectrum and CBD isolate products that span across multiple categories, including tinctures/oils, topicals, gummies, and CBD for pets. Some of these products contain other botanical ingredients for an added boost. On the flip side, some products like the gummies lack in CBD potency, and its full-spectrum CBD oils are overpriced compared to the best brands in the industry.

What Are Customers Saying?

There are only a handful of reviews on the company’s website, and there isn’t much engagement from the company’s social media followers. But, from the little bit of feedback we saw, some customers said the products helped them sleep better, improved lower back pain, and reduced their anxiety.

Pros & Cons

  • 3rd party laboratory tested
  • Regenerative & sustainable farming practices
  • cGMP certified manufacturing facility
  • Use of organic ingredients
  • Low potency gummies, no returns on opened products
  • Expensive & low potency full-spectrum tinctures
  • Poor dosing guidance

Who is Green Gorilla?

Green Gorilla is a Malibu, CA-based company that entered the CBD industry in 2013. Founders, Steve, and Katherine Saxton discovered CBD in the 2000s and were amazed by its impact on their own lives and the lives of their closest friends and family members.

After years of personal success, the Saxton family knew it was time to start a CBD company. They created Green Gorilla with the following mission statement.

“We believe in the pureness of nature, the dedication to wellness, and the brilliance of optimism.”

With a focus on the pureness of nature, the company uses as many organic ingredients as possible. You’ll even see a “USDA Organic” label on its products and website.

Naturally, we looked up the company on the USDA Organic Integrity Database, to verify the legitimacy of this label. However, they didn’t appear in the search results. So, we reached out to Green Gorilla for clarification, and they said they’re certified with Oregon Tilth and that their products are 94% organic, as stated on the product labels.

The third-party lab reports show the company’s products are free of all impurities and chemicals. But as far qualifying for the USDA organic label, that’s debatable.

Lastly, Green Gorilla strives to improve the Earth’s climate and environment. It’s doing its part by practicing regenerative and sustainable farming on its 1,500-acre hemp farm in Arizona. These practices increase the biodiversity of the land, which is good for everyone — the land, plants, animals, and people.

Green Gorilla Product Summary

This company has a decent selection of hemp-derived CBD products. The options include full-spectrum and CBD isolate (pure) tinctures, gummies, topicals, and CBD for dogs, cats, and horses.

The CBD is derived from hemp grown in the United States. Green Gorilla sources its hemp from its farm in Arizona, or its partner farms in California, Oregon, Colorado, and Nevada. Furthermore, it uses supercritical CO2 extraction, to gently and safely remove the hemp extract without degrading the precious phytonutrients.

One major flaw we found was the low potency of many products.

Green Gorilla Products

CBD Oils: The company offers CBD oil products in a pure (CBD isolate) and a whole plant full-spectrum option. The company keeps the ingredient list simple for its Green Gorilla CBD oils, which is good. Besides CBD, the other ingredients include organic extra virgin olive oil, organic turmeric root extract, organic rosemary leaf extract, and organic lecithin.

Learning about the company’s full-spectrum CBD oil was disappointing and misleading. For instance, one of its products is labeled 1,200mg of hemp extract. Many people would assume there’s 1,200mg of CBD, but in fact, there’s only 300mg of CBD. You only find out this information when you read the back of the product label. The same applies to all of Green Gorilla’s full-spectrum oils.

Gummies: Green Gorilla CBD gummies are made with CBD isolate (0% THC) and plant-based ingredients. But, they’re overpriced, especially for their super low potency of only 5mg of CBD per gummy. Not a great value at all.

Topicals: Green Gorilla CBD Balm and chapstick have a great combination of botanicals, like arnica, eucalyptus, rosemary, peppermint, turmeric, and lavender. They also include organic sunflower oil, olive oil,and beeswax for an ultra-soft and smooth texture.

The body balm comes in an extra-strength CBD potency, which is perfect for those needing a stronger effect.

Pet Products: The company sells its Green Gorilla CBD oil for pets — in both full-spectrum and isolate. It can be given to dogs, cats, horses, and other household pets or farm animals.

Customers also have the choice of buying pet treats or a topical balm for external issues. All in all, Green Gorilla offers healthy and safe CBD products for your pets.

Gorilla CBD: Questionable Use of USDA Organic Label & Overpriced Products

Green Gorilla has a mix of strengths and shortcomings. A few glaring issues came up — the biggest one is the potential misuse of the USDA Organic seal.

The company’s products say 94% organic on the bottles and containers. Whereas the organic labeling standards specify that a product must have 95% organic ingredients to use the USDA organic seal. It would be more appropriate for the product labels to say “made with organic ingredients”, to correctly comply with the standards.

Additionally, products like its gummies and some of its oils had an extremely low amount of CBD, but the costs of these items didn’t reflect this. In other words, you’d pay a lot more for a lot less CBD.

However, Green Gorilla has redeeming qualities and some of its products are still killer. We liked that the topicals include botanicals and heavier strengths of CBD. And if you’re in the market for a quality pet CBD, it’s pet products are clean and cater to a variety of species; everything from cats and dogs, to horses and farm animals.
