Pros & Cons

Pros:
  • Hanging beam supports up to 110 lbs
  • Viewing window
  • 3 growing compartments
Cons:
  • Not 100% lightproof
  • Inefficient zipper

This has got to be the coolest cheap grow tent design we have ever seen. The Opulent Systems tent features a smaller 2-tier compartment and a separate large tent area. The top shelf is for propagation and seedlings. When plants have reached vegetation mode, you can move them out of the seedling trays to the lower compartment. Once your plants have matured, they can be transferred to the tent’s larger area to encourage the flowering stage of growth.

The 600D Oxford cloth canvas and double stitching keep light where it should be, and the fabric stands up to repeated cleanings. The metal framing structure supports up to 110 pounds and is a snap to assemble. The package includes the tent canvas with sock vents, metal frame, nylon straps, removable floor tray, and convenient storage for your tools and grow accessories. There aren’t many customer reviews, but most of them indicate a fair amount of light loss.

Pros & Cons

Pros:
  • Money-back guarantee
  • D-shaped door with double zipper
  • 20-month warranty
Cons:
  • Light loss
  • Window covers don’t roll up
  • No ports on the bottom for cables

The double-door chamber on the MELONFARM grow tent uses 100% reflective Mylar lining to increase your grow lights’ intensity for even heat throughout the whole interior. The metal support beams hold up to 110 pounds, providing ultimate stability for your reflectors, fans, and lights. In addition to the dual ventilation sock vents, there’s a mesh-covered rectangular panel and an observation window in the door to peak at your plants without disturbing the set-up.

The 600D Oxford cloth tent shell comes with a built-in tool bag, metal rods and connectors, carbon filter belts, and a waterproof tray. It’s clear MELONFARM stands behind the quality of their product, offering a 30-day money-back guarantee and a 20-month warranty. There are plenty of reviews from happy customers that say assembly was a piece-of-cake, but we did catch quite a few that mentioned the need for cable ports near the bottom of the tent.

#3 Hongruilite Grow Tent

Pros & Cons

Pros:
  • Full kit
  • Ratchet hanger with locking latch
  • Polyester plant trellis netting
Cons:
  • No warranty information
  • Not lightproof
  • Not easy to assemble alone

While this cheap grow tent sports a higher price tag than most of its competitors, you’re getting a full kit with some extra bells and whistles. In addition to the grow tent cover, you will receive a starter kit containing: 1 set of steel frame rods and connectors, a removable waterproof floor tray, nylon belts, a digital thermometer, humidity monitor, 2 rope ratchet hangers, a 24hr dual-outlet timer, and a 5’x15′ trellis netting. Go ahead, read that over again. We didn’t believe our eyes either.

The 2-1 design offers separate compartments for different stages of growth to maximize your harvest. Sorting your bud by growth stage makes it easier to trim, water, and adjust the environment for happy, healthy greens. You can use this as a drying tent or for propagation, or you can leverage the horizontal grow room with 400-watt grow lights — the options are truly endless. There are plenty of satisfied customers, but almost all reviews mention light leaking through the stitching and vents.

#4 iPower GLTENTXS3 Tent

iPower GLTENTXS3 Hydroponic Water-Resistant Tent

Pros & Cons

Pros:
  • Electrical ports
  • Easy to clean
  • Double duct ports
Cons:
  • Light loss
  • Need help to adjust height
  • Inefficient zipper

The highly reflective Mylar lining returns up to 95% of your light, helping your harvest reach its maximum potential. The dual sleave duct ports minimize seepage and make it easy to run electricity through the tent. The sturdy all-metal frame can handle up to 110 pounds of grow lights, filters, and fans. While the product details don’t state the exact type of Oxford cloth used for the shell, the company says it is tear-proof, water-resistant, and blocks light from escaping.

Your order will come with a tent cover, floor tray, metal poles and connectors, and a tool bag. The removable floor tray makes cleaning a breeze, and the built-in tool bag keeps your accessories organized. Tons of verified purchasers say the quality is comparable to more expensive tents, and the customer service is impeccable. However, a fair number of reviews mention issues with the zipper getting stuck or tearing the stitching.

Pros & Cons

Pros:
  • Observation window
  • Steel connectors
  • Dual-layer ventilation
Cons:
  • Reduced grow room after adding lights/ventilation

  • Unreliable Velcro areas

Insulated with diamond Mylar, the tent’s interior is 98% reflective to help boost the growth rate of your plants. The 600D Oxford cloth cover is tear-proof, lightproof, and water-resistant. Most cheap grow tents use plastic connectors, which can easily be damaged and tend to have a short lifespan. The VIVOSUN grow tent uses an iron metal frame to provide strong support for hanging lights and ventilation systems. The dual-layer opening seals tightly around a fan to help maximize ventilation.

The package includes 1 tent body, metal poles and connectors, filter straps, a removable floor tray, a hanging bar, and a tool bag to store your accessories. Customers are impressed with the durability and easy set-up. There are only a handful of negative reviews that mention some minor stitching malfunctions and missing parts.

The frame and all connectors are made from powder-coated, high-grade tubular steel.

For a cheap grow tent, Finnhomy is checking all of our boxes. The parts are top-notch, and the construction is suitable for a variety of growing systems and lights. The tent comes with a removable Mylar floor tray, steel rods, and 2 filter straps. Some users report that assembly was challenging to do alone, and customer support was difficult to get ahold of. The majority of customer reviews are 5-stars and claim this cheap grow tent is easy to assemble and does an excellent job of insulating odors. However, this tent does not feature a viewing window, and the plastic connectors can easily break if you are not careful.

#9 TopoLite Grow Tent

TopoLite Grow Tent

Dimensions: 24” x 24” x 48”
Canvas: 600D Oxford cloth
Frame: Metal and plastic
Reflection: 96% Diamond Mylar

Expert Review

Pros & Cons

Pros:
  • Removeable spill tray
  • Plenty of ventilation
  • Heavy-duty zipper
Cons:
  • No warranty information
  • Plastic connectors

The fabric used for the exterior of the TopoLite grow tent is 600D Oxford cloth. While it’s not as thick as some of the fabric used by high-end grow tents, it’s more than enough to keep unwanted odors from escaping. The heavy-duty nylon zipper helps prevent light from escaping the tent while offering smooth operation with no resistance. Another praiseworthy feature of the TopoLite grow tent is the vent placement to accommodate fans and filters.

The box comes with a grow tent cover, 16MM frame of rods and connectors, a removable floor tray, and 2 nylon belts. The reviews are overwhelmingly positive, and we are hard-pressed to find any that mention light leakage. Even with so many 5-star reviews, the lack of warranty information is somewhat cautionary. A lot of customers also say the tent size is only suitable for one or two plants at a time.

Why Buy a Cheap Grow Tent?

Indoor grow tents are energy-efficient money savers and the secret to a successful harvest. By controlling elements like airflow, humidity, and lighting, you can create a balanced environment your plants can thrive in.

Some of the fancier grow tents can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars, depending on the functionality and type of set-up you need. However, if you are a beginner or only have a small crop to take care of, a cheap grow tent offers everything you need to keep your plants and wallet happy.

Grow Year-Round

Just like when you step outside in a t-shirt and shorts expecting a nice sunny day only to be hit with rain and cold wind, plants prefer a predictable climate. Weather and external factors are no longer your concern because you have complete control over the environment. Customize the atmosphere by attaching equipment like humidifiers, heaters, lights, fans, and air conditioners.

Leverage Your Space

Got a spare closet? Grow tent. Don’t know what to do in your guest room? Grow tent. An indoor grow tent can take up as much or as little space as you want. Grow tents are also designed to be energy efficient. The reflective indoor lining circulates the heat and evenly disperses the light for improved photosynthesis without a spike in your electric bills.

Keep Pests Out

The closed design of grown tents helps keep pests, such as aphids, whiteflies, and spider mites away. Pest control in the great outdoors is much more complicated and can result in losing entire crops and your investment. As long as you keep your tent closed, pests should get the memo to stay out.

Grow Tents: A Budding Success

Do you need a grow tent to be a successful indoor plant parent? That’s like asking if you needed that morning coffee. Probably not, but it sure does help. A small, cheap grow tent allows you to dip your toes in the world of beginner indoor gardening without investing a lot of money upfront. Once you have a little herbal knowledge under your belt, you can make adjustments to the equipment or even upgrade your whole set-up with complete growing confidence.
