“No pain, no gain” may feel like a tired dictum in 2020, but has the passage of time made it less true?
If you’re an athlete, then chances are you understand (at a visceral level) the demand for products that help with the process of recovery. Weary of a daily diet of over-the-counter pain meds to help deal with the painful aftermath of a tough workout, many athletes are actively looking for more natural pain relief.
So far, CBD seems to fit the bill. In fact, Statista (an online portal for statistics) recently estimated the global CBD sports nutrition sector to be worth an estimated $81.5 billion by 2023. It’s big business, to put it lightly.
Which brings us to Therabody, a newly rebranded company that is no stranger to natural recovery solutions. You may be familiar with the company’s first product, the Theragun. This high tech percussive massage therapy device came into existence in 2016 after company founder, Dr. Jason Wersland, experienced a life-altering injury.
So how does CBD fit into the company portfolio?
Pretty seamlessly, it turns out:
“It’s important for our customers to know that under certain circumstances, there are natural and effective alternatives to pain medications,” says Wersland. “Theragun has always been a natural approach to successfully treating pain and now TheraOne will be an additional natural wellness solution.”
TheraOne CBD, which is USDA Certified Organic, is set to take advantage of the surge of athletes looking for natural pain relief.
Unsurprisingly, this has led to a surge in CBD products targeted directly at athletes. Of course, the notoriously unregulated nature of the CBD industry means that these products vary wildly in their quality.
TheraBody has set out to change that.
The company has created one of the first full CBD product lines (called TheraOne) to carry the USDA Certified Organic Seal. For a variety of complex reasons, securing USDA certified organic hemp is still a formidable feat in the CBD industry, so this is a big deal.
The company is also determined not to cut corners when it comes to testing. All products undergo independent testing, with QR codes on products that link to lab results on the website.
Therabody’s product lineup is ambitious, with five initial offerings, ranging from warming and cooling products to massage oil and a sleep tincture. All of these seem to be high-quality products adhering to the best standards of transparency in the industry.
In order to take advantage of the full range of cannabinoids present in the hemp plant, TheraOne makes use of full spectrum CBD oil. There are lots of good reasons to choose full spectrum CBD oil – most notably, that the presence of other cannabinoids and terpenes may make it more effective.
However, serious athletes (and by “serious” we mean those that have to undergo drug testing) may want to give the Sleep tincture a pass, since it does contain trace amounts of THC. Full spectrum topical products should be fine, even for those undergoing drug testing, since cannabinoids in topicals do not cross through the skin into the bloodstream.
Of course, most people that will benefit from TheraOne CBD products are not being drug tested by WADA. And for those looking for a natural way to deal with aches and pains, these clean, high-potency products represent good value from a reliable source.
