Pros & Cons
- Beautiful design that’s incredibly discreet
- Easy to load, with a convenient dab tool built right into the mouthpiece
- Multiple heat settings for optimal flavor and cloud control
- Hits are a little smaller than what you might find in larger vaporizers
- Batteries don’t last as long as some other vape pens
Extraction and Temperature Control
One of the Puffco’s biggest advantages is the ceramic heater. It makes for a lot less mess and delivers even and efficient heating. With no coils, you may feel the clouds aren’t quite as robust as what you’re used to. But what you lose in cloud density, you more than gain in flavor and flexibility.
Puffco designed this device to be more like a pocket nail than a traditional vape pen, so it heats up pretty fast. And if you’re like us, you’ll immediately appreciate the ‘sesh mode’ feature, which keeps your concentrates cooking for 12 seconds… great if you’re looking to share a rip with friends, or just want a little extra for yourself.
And if you’re not a ‘one size fits all’ type of vaper, you’ll like that the Puffco Plus vape pen offers you a choice of three temperature settings, which are super easy to use. Choose low for optimized flavor, high for bigger clouds, or medium for something in the middle.
Vapor Production and Airflow
During our Puffco Plus review, operating the pen was ridiculously simple. In fact, there was zero learning curve, since the controls are just like the ones you’d find on most vape pens. Just load the pen, heat, and draw. For a small pen, this thing delivers a big punch. The rips are deep and smooth, and the clouds are about exactly what you’d expect from a device like this. Although the ceramic chamber is relatively small, remember you’re only vaping concentrates with this pen, so that might just be a good thing.
Cleaning the Puffco Plus Vaporizer
As long as you’re not overloading the chamber, cleaning the Puffco Plus is a breeze. You can probably get by with little to no cleaning most of the time, since there’s no coil to trap any leftover concentrates. The ceramic bowl is also a little on the fragile side, so it’s best to avoid over-cleaning. If it does need a polish though, just try one of the cleaning swabs that come in the original packaging – you’ll have it sparkling in no time.
The battery fits perfectly in the long, sleek design, and gives the whole device a sense of stability and weight. The big downside of the battery is its life. You’d be lucky to get an hour of continuous use from a full charge with the original Puffco Plus, and a little more with the recently launched Puffco Plus V2. Although this may seem a little disappointing, moderate users will probably find it’s more than enough to get them through the day. And for the heavier users out there, it’s not the end of the world – the whole thing takes just 45 minutes to juice back up again with the standard USB cord.
During our Puffco Plus review, what really made this pen stand out was the ‘dart’, an innovative little dab tool that’s built right into the mouthpiece. You just pull the mouthpiece off, scoop your favorite concentrate, and insert the whole thing back into the chamber. No smearing, smattering, or smooshing required. It’s fast, easy, and convenient. And there’s one less piece to lose (or forget) when you’re vaping on the go.
Puffco Plus Warranty and Accessories
You can tell a lot about a company’s confidence by the type of warranty they offer. If that’s the case, then Puffco has confidence by the boatload. According to their website, if you experience anything less than perfection, you’ve got a whole year to make your claim.
Like most quality vape pens, this one comes with a USB charger and some surprisingly high-end cleaning swabs. Although the product comes with everything you need to get vaping, we recommend a few extra atomizers, as they typically last anywhere from 1-3 months.
Puffco Plus vs. Puffco Pro 2
Both the Puffco Plus and the Puffco Pro 2 are amazingly portable and discreet, and you can get both for under a hundred bucks. However, they’re really built for two different customers. While the Puffco Plus is built more for the flavor lover, the Puffco Pro 2 is designed for those who love the rush of a big cloud. The Puffco Pro 2 is also slightly smaller, has significantly more battery life, and a stainless steel shell that’s incredibly resistant to scratches, so it’ll look good no matter how much you tote it around.
Puffco Vape Pens
Puffco really made a splash in 2016 with the original Puffco Plus. It was way ahead of its time, and the company has extended its lead with the recent launch of the Puffco Plus V2. The newer Puffco Plus V2 has an advanced mouthpiece that makes it better at scooping up concentrates, and boasts a slightly better battery life. It also comes with a USB supercharger that can fully recharge the battery in just over half an hour.
No matter what you choose, the company’s devices all look great, and they offer a lot of style and performance for the money. Innovation is baked into pretty much everything Puffco do. They don’t offer a wide range of products, but the products they do have appeal to a wide spectrum of users. For the more adventurous, there’s the Peak smart rig that you can get in some pretty wild designs, and of course, the Puffco Plus and the Puffco Pro 2 are meant for vapers looking for discretion and portability.
These flagship products have earned themselves many fans, and you’d be hard pressed to find a Puffco Pro, Peak, or Plus review out there that’s anything less than glowing.
The Final Verdict
Overall, this is a great pen that outperforms just about every other pen in its category. It looks great, works great, and it offers some of the best flavor you can find from a pen of this size. It’s a great road companion for vaping on the go.
